EDI X12 990 Transaction Set
The EDI X12 990 message is used by carriers in response to an EDI X12 204 message. This allows the carrier to let the shipper know whether he accepts the transport order or not. As with the EDI X12 204 Load Tender, this message is mainly used for Full Truck Loads.

Content of an EDI X12 990 message
The EDI X12 990 can contain three different status responses:
- Transport order has been accepted
- Transport order has been refused
- Transport order has been accepted, subject to conditions
The EDI X12 990 contains space in which the carrier can indicate why a transport order was refused or under what conditions the order was accepted. After the carrier has sent EDI X12 990, the sender will in turn respond by sending an EDI X12 997 Functional Acknowledgment, indicating that the EDI X12 990 has been received successfully.
