What is VDA?
VDA stands for Verband Der Automobilindustrie. It is an association that is involved, among other things, in developing and maintaining standards for EDI messages exchanged between car manufacturers and their suppliers. Because all German car manufacturers are members of the VDA, companies that do business with them will have to be able to process VDA messages.
- Years of integration experience
- Flexible and scalable solutions
- Experience with different industries
- Friendly company to work with
Convert to EDI
From the start of the VDA, it was never anticipated that they would also exchange information on an international level. Therefore, the standards are only published in German.
Unlike other EDI standards, there is no naming convention for each data element within the VDA specifications. As a result, knowledge of the German language is required for working with VDA messages.
The fixed record format ensures that VDA cannot be easily converted to an existing dialect such as EDIFACT or ANSI X12.
The VDA therefore developed more than 30 EDI messages to meet the wishes of companies such as Volkswagen, Audi, Mercedes Benz and Bosch.
Outsource EDI with Managed EDI
How to integrate and implement EDI is still a challenge for many organizations.
At Copernicus we have a lot of experience with EDI. With Niklas, our own integration platform or Enterprise Service Bus, we design and implement all communication between different applications and systems ourselves.
For organizations where EDI is not yet a core competency, Copernicus also offers ‘EDI as a service’: Managed EDI, based on Niklas.
Managed EDI is available in a customized subscription form and suitable for both large and small organizations.
If you would like to know more about the possibilities of Managed EDI for your company, you can always contact us.
